The protective wax is used as a protection coating in mechanical engraving of glass reticule and index plate. It protects the non-engraving surface from being corroded by acid. (The glass reticule is made by mechanical engraving and acid corrosion).

Usage
1. Clean the parts (such as reticule and index plate) to be engraved and preheat them to proper temperature.
2. Heat the protective wax to about 180 - 200℃ and apply the wax to part surface.
1. Move the applied part away from the hot source immediately and place it on the well-cooled tool or item. Let the part cool down to room temperature. It is ready for engraving of lines and patterns.
2. Corrode the engraved part with acid (hydrofluoric acid, vitriol and nitric acid). After acid corrosion, heat the part to remove the wax layer on the part.
3. Clean the part thoroughly with organic solvent like gasoline etc.
Technological points
1. The thickness of the applied layer should be uniform without impurity, in order to ensure the processing quality. |
